Space Opera- Rurniel Character Sheet

Since I'm all about the new stuff and, as previously stated, I have a one-track mind that gets very, very clogged with trains, here's some stuff about my space opera characters, so that 1) Ari can have it for future reference (should you ever wanna use or mention 'em), and 2) because...well, Rurniel's cool.
(In bold if Rurniel doesn’t know)
The Questions
Date this form was created: Feb. 18th, 2006
Full name of Character: Rurniel (real name: Zlatan Elliot/Durvalis)
Reason, meaning or purpose behind the name: Sounds cool, almost angelic. (Named for martyred grandfather)
Nickname: “Kid”
Reason for nickname: Because some people are stupid, and some are suicidal.
Race: Human- Wired.
Occupation/class: Grand General Rurniel, commanding officer of Zisoro.
Social class: Super-high in Zisoro/R-16 places. Lower than dirt in Alliance, due to apparent age and being a Wired kid- the sign of either a child soldier, or a slave.
Physical Appearance:
Age: ??? (13, but barely)
How old they appear: 12.
Eye Color: Silver on left, silver with random flecks of other colors in right, due to Wired circuitry.
Glasses or contacts? Needs neither, but wears a connecting headgear-type thing with fiber optic cables all over it when he’s deep into his Wired-ness.
Hair color length and style: A vibrant bright purple color he doesn’t even bother to brush, so it sticks up and goes flat and does all sorts of crazy things as if it had its own conscience. Also tends to be the only way you can tell if Rurniel slept in the past 24 hours.
Weight and height: 5’1”, 90 lbs.
Type of body (build): Still has the body of a fragile child, albeit one that can rip doors off hinges if the need arises. Skinny, but has enough that he wouldn’t be made fun of if he was a normal kid.
Skin tone and type (i.e., hairy, slimy, scaly, oily, fair, burns easily): Strangely tan, since he never goes outside.
Shape of face: To his own distaste, Rurniel still has baby fat and has a round, beautiful face that he really, really hates.
Distinguishing marks (dimples, moles, scars, birthmarks, etc.): Well, he’s got the random exidermal circuitry on his body, which usually looks like an inbedded bit of silver that popped up. He also has “XZ-Y77394Q84” tattooed on the bottom of his left foot.
Predominant feature: Either his glare or shockingly purple hair, or the simple fact he’s a twelve-year-old.
Is s/he healthy? Sadly, no.
If not, why not? Or why are they healthy? He doesn’t sleep much, only when either Aptsan or Reed make him (even though he forces Reed into eating), since he’s so wired into the Network that he has a strange grasp of time.
Do they look healthy? He looks like a very, very skinny twelve-year old, and the Wired-ness doesn’t help that much, either.
Favorites:
Char’s favorite color: Red.
Least favorite, why? Pink, because no matter how much he hates it, he IS a twelve-year-old boy.
Music? Usually hard rock, punk, metal, techno, anything loud and cacophonous because it A) keeps most people away from him and B) can keep his attention.
Least favorite music, why? Boring stuff, and especially reggae.
Food: Pizza because, again, he’s twelve, whether he likes it or not.
Literature: Techno-babble books, information, reports, anything to do with horses (he’s secretly fascinated by them), and also has a soft spot for Mark Twain he can’t even begin to explain.
Expressions: “Ten more minutes!”, “…ew.”, “DAMN IT YOU TWO, I’M TRYING TO WORK!”
Expletives (curse): “DAMN IT!”, “Crap.”, “Oh, SHIT-!”
Mode of transport: Own legs, his Commanders if those don’t work.
Hobbies: Manipulating people, scaring people, hacking, gathering information, downloading things, destroying important things that belong to the Alliance, getting revenge on people, practical jokes, avoiding everyone but his Commanders, secretly watching and guarding the other kids on Zisoro.
How do they spend a rainy day? Doing exactly what he would do on a sunny day.
Personality:
Are they a daredevil or cautious? Daredevil, so long as he’s the only one being daring.
Do they act the same alone as when with someone? Depends on the person. With the other Generals, he’s super-scary, with other kids he’s super-quiet, and with his Commanders (JUST his commanders) he’s himself. By himself he would look almost comatose to an observer, and with other people he’s politely annoyed at the world.
Habits: Not sleeping, knowing practically everything about everyone, intimidating the other generals, watching the other kids on Zisoro, being practically incapable of functioning without a computer nearby, hanging around his Commanders and (even though he won’t admit it) making sure they don’t get into TOO much trouble.
Drinks: Anything fizzy, whatever his Commanders tell him to (with much griping), water. Doesn’t drink alcohol, especially since his Commanders would KILL him…or try to, at least.
How much: Uh…a normal amount, I suppose. Maybe a little too much fizzy-ness, all things considered, but it’s not like he has to worry about his teeth or something.
Greatest Strength: Knowledge, or hyper-Wired-ness.
Greatest Weakness: His Commanders, and he knows it.
Soft spot: Again, his Commanders, maybe kids.
Is their soft spot obvious, why/why not: His soft spot with kids is not terribly obvious, while the one for his Commanders is blatant if you’re in the same room as the three for more than ten minutes.
If not, how do they hide it: He hides his soft spot for kids by never fully doing anything for them…at least, not something he can’t write off to administrative duties and moral codes.
Biggest Vulnerability: His humanity, because he either doesn’t see it, or doesn’t want to acknowledge it.
Background: (unknown to him if in bold)
Hometown: His own perception would be The Xonirume Institute on Hequvi 8, as it’s where his first memory is. He was born in Siataff, Jenele, the Alliance capitol.
Type of childhood: Well…hm. The first two years of his life were that of a privileged senator’s firstborn, the two after that as a political prisoner, and the next five as a guinea pig for Dr. Jamres Ixiaqo, who was then murdered in the escape of Ethan Wolfe. He escaped five days later, taking out most of the complex, and joined R-16, becoming a General in four months, and a Grand General in two more.
First Memory: His first fully accessible memory is waking up on a metal operating table, scientists and doctors mulling about, and the panicked massacre that followed. His first memory, however, is that of his mother, Senator Philomel Elliot, screaming as he was taken as a political prisoner.
Most important childhood event that still affects him/her: Arguably, being turned into a Wired human.
Why? …do I even need to answer this? Dude, they experimented on him, cut him open, and WIRED HIM TO THE HYPERNET. Plus Ixiaqo put damn near everything he’d ever learned into Rurniel’s mind, and (re)named him.
Education: Anything and everything you could want to know, he knows. And if he doesn’t, he will as soon as you give him a good connection to the internet.
Religion: None. If anything, he’d be Buddhist, but he isn’t even that.
Finances: Well, money isn’t really a problem when you practically own an entire moon, but if he needs some he can just hijack it from someone else’s bank account, since money is almost entirely credit now.
Family: (HE KNOWS NONE OF THIS!!)
Mother: Senator Philomel Elliot. (d.)
Relationship with her: They had a good relationship for the two years they knew each other. Philomel very much doted on her first (and only) child, and managed the impressive task of being both a good mother and an outspoken anti-imperialism senator while keeping her baby Zlatan out of it.
Father: Andrew Durvalis.
Relationship with him: Never really knew him- Andrew is a space pilot…or more specifically, a smuggler, specializing in people. Helped Philomel get out of an attempted arrest by the Alliance, and they managed to fall in lust and have sex and conceive Zlatan/Rurniel in the process, not that either of ‘em knew that. When Rurniel’s stressed or in danger, his father’s family (due to psychic/religious/biological stuff) tend to pick up on his thoughts. Kinda freaks poor Andrew out, though…
Siblings, How many, relationship with each: n/a
Children of siblings: n/a
Other extended family: Lucretia Durvalis, his father’s sister. A high priestess on Entiwa.
Close? Why or why not: Don’t even know each other exist, although Lucretia does randomly get psychic input from him when he’s in distress. She hasn’t figured it out yet, though.
Attitude:
Most at ease when: Alone, or with his Commanders, especially when there’s no emergency or crisis or anything work-oriented.
Most ill at ease when: With other kids, or somewhere the inhabitants don’t know he’s important, because he strongly dislikes having to defend himself against the “Wired = dirt” mentality of the Alliance.
Priorities: Commanders -> Taking down the Alliance -> R-16’s safety -> kids -> himself
Philosophies: “Knowledge is power”, “Down with the Alliance”, “Never again.”
How they feel about themselves: Rurniel doesn’t really think about himself, other than wondering what the hell he was doing for the first nine years or so of his life. Overall he, sadly, sees himself as a tool with intelligence, and directs himself accordingly.
Past failure they would be embarrassed to admit: He was so scared when he regained consciousness that he massacred over a hundred people? Seems like a big mistake to me.
Why? He doesn’t like killing people, especially smart people who know stuff he wants to.
If granted one wish what would it be, why? To secure the safety of his Commanders for all time, because they’re the only thing he ever really worries about. That, or for his memories, because he has flashes of very scary things go through his mind when he’s asleep and wants to know if that’s actual memory.
Traits:
Optimist or pessimist? Why? Pessimist, because it’s easier to calculate.
Introvert or extrovert? Why? Introvert, because he’s like a living library.
Drives and motives: Revenge against the Alliance, security of those he cares about, and making sure what happened to him never happens to anyone else. Also to show his “colleagues” that he’s not just a little kid, and that they’re actually a hell of a lot stupider than him.
Talents: Knowing anything and everything, manipulation, subtlety, painting horses, analysis, speed-reading, commanding people’s attention when the situation demands it.
Extremely skilled at: Subtlety, espionage, manipulation, information handling, painting.
Extremely unskilled at: Dealing with strangers, especially kids, dealing with “idiots” (aka most of the population), taking second place, forgiveness, empathy.
Good characteristics: Intelligence, mindfulness, polite, strength, determination, drive, prioritization, wisdom, knowledge, self-control.
Character flaws: Short-tempered, arrogant, apathetic, impatient, shy around new people.
Mannerisms: Squinting when thinking very hard, not looking at people when talking to them, adjusting collar when nervous, glaring at basically everyone but his Commanders.
Peculiarities: Hates shoes but loves socks, always has cacophonous music on in his private areas of Zisoro even when he’s asleep (turn it off to wake him), soaks his breakfast food in carbonated apple juice, almost addicted to salt.
Biggest regret: The Massacre of the Xonirume Institute.
Minor regrets: Not trusting Reed and Aptsan before they proved themselves worthy, letting Reed go off and avenge himself whenever he wants to, trusting General Xein when he first arrived in R-16.
Biggest accomplishment: Um…becoming a Grand General at 11 or 12, maybe?
Minor accomplishments: Having quite possibly the most loyal staff in R-16, remaining unbeaten at Space Commander (an online military strategy game), riding a horse on his last anniversary (the day he met up with R-16, since they don’t know his birthday).
Darkest secret: Almost obsessed with horses, KNOWS Ixiaqo’s in his mind, the fact he knows he would do anything to keep his Commanders safe and screw the rest of the universe if that’s what it took.
Does anyone know? His Commanders know about the horse thing, and Reed knows about Ixiaqo, but that’s it.
How did they find out: Tickled him into admitting that’s what he really wanted for his anniversary, Reed caught him mumbling in his sleep.
Self-perception:
One word they would use to describe themselves: Rurniel.
One paragraph of how they would describe themselves: "I’m smarter than you. Accept it. And I also don’t need to describe myself to you, because I just AM. It’s up to you to figure out what I happen to be."
What do they consider their best physical characteristic and why: …none of the above? Probably his ears, since they’re the only thing without visible circuitry on them and Aptsan promised to buy him an earring when he turned 14.
The worst one? Why? His torso, without a doubt, because it’s the most thoroughly scarred and Wired part of him, most likely due to availability of space.
Are they realistic assessments? Uh…sure. His torso isn’t that bad, really, and his ears are pretty nice.
If not, why not? The wiring really was done like a priceless work of art.
How they think others perceive them: Like a monster.
What four things would they most like to change about themselves: The visible wiring, the fact he has someone else’s knowledge and memories in his brain, that he can’t remember anything from before, and the tattoo on the bottom of his foot.
Why? Visible reminders of something he can’t allow himself to want to change, and the fact he wants to be himself, only himself, and completely himself.
If they were changed would they be the same person, why/why not: …probably not. He’d be far less breakable mentally, but also far less determined, and not nearly so strong-willed. He’d be WAY more into the revenge thing and wouldn’t regret the massacre, too.
Would changing of number 1 make them more happy? Why/why not: Yes, because then he would be far less self-conscious.
Interaction with other people:
How do they relate to others: Intellectually, and by goals.
How are they perceived by strangers: Rather tainted, almost pitied because he’s so young to be so “filthy”, and also very, very scary, because they know what being so “dirty” means.
Friends: Like Rurniel- a loveably arrogant kid with a thing for horses and loud music and stuff that would fry a normal person’s brain with its complexity. They dote. A LOT.
Wife/husband/lover: n/a. He's 12!
The Hero/Heroine: Uh…don’t have one yet.
How do they view the Hero/Heroine: Again with the not having one. Might be Rurniel.
First impression of the char: n/a
why? N/a
What happens to change this perception: n/a
What do people like most about this char: Intelligence, wisdom, the fact he’s goal-oriented and that as soon as he trusts you he’ll do damn near anything to protect you. Plus he’s adorable, and almost scarily attractive for a twelve/thirteen-year-old.
What do they dislike most about them: Arrogance, glaring, short-tempered…lots of stuff. He tends to rub people the wrong way.
Goals:
Immediate: Protect Commanders, protect kids, kill Alliance, protect self, protect Zisoro.
Long term: Destroy Alliance, figure out memories/past, keep Commanders safe, be as good a person as he can.
How do they plan to accomplish them: by being a Grand General, using himself as the tool/weapon he perceives himself as.
How will others be affected by this: If they’re not with him, they’re against him, and will probably get mowed over without a second glance if push comes to shove.
Problems/Crisis:
How do they react in a crisis: Immediate action, usually the action being “get as much intelligence as fast as I can”.
How do they face problems: Logically, get information, and then solve it as soon as there’s enough intelligence to know what to do.
Kind of problems they usually run into: His Commanders’ constant bickering, matters of R-16 security, Zisoro security and administration, internal conflict, the Alliance trying to kill everyone he’s responsible for, etc.
How they react to new problems: See above “face problem” answer.
How they react to change: Understand, and adapt.
General:
Favorite clothing, why: Loose, long, and modest when not going to a big general meeting. When he IS, he wears skin-tight black leather pants, big combat boots, and a bright red clingy tank top, occasionally with a knee-length white coat, just to intimidate them into remembering he’s smarter, stronger, and faster than they could ever hope to be, and biological age has nothing to do with it.
Least favorite, why: Swimwear, because it shows practically every bit of circuitry on him and swimming is supposed to be a casual, carefree sort of thing.
Jewelry: None yet, but Aptsan promised him he’d get an earring when he turned 14 (since both Reed and Aptsan have them).
Other accessories: A connecting headgear-type thing with fiber optic cables all over it when he’s deep into his Wired-ness, and when he SERIOUSLY needs to get connected he has a needle connection to be jabbed into his right eye, connect to the back of his retina, and put the connection straight in his brain.
Drives: Revenge against the Alliance, security of those he cares about, and making sure what happened to him never happens to anyone else. Also to show his “colleagues” that he’s not just a little kid, and that they’re actually a hell of a lot stupider than him.
Where do they live: Private floor in the Zisoro Administration Quarter- 7/10 is a gigantic room full of monitors and computers and books and view screens, with 1/10 for a bathroom, 1/10 for a neglected little kitchen, and another 10th his bedroom, which is about the size of a dorm room with one twin bed and the rest a closet, with a secret compartment full of paintings of horses.
Where do they want to live: Right where he does, or maybe with his Commanders if it wouldn’t be a security risk. (He occasionally punches holes through things in his sleep)
Spending habits, why: Uh…he doesn’t really need to worry about money, but he has everything he needs, because the previous general left it all just waiting for him.
What do they do too much of, why: Researching, but he kind of needs to.
Most prized possession, why: I’d say his Commanders, but that’s a bit too possessive (even though he IS possessive of them), so I’ll say…his gigantic hard drive, or more specifically the information on it.
People they secretly admire, why: His Commanders, the other generals, adults, because they’re fully-grown and he’s not. And also the kids, because they’re not fully-grown and don’t NEED to be yet.
Person they are most influenced by, why: Overall it’d probably be Dr. Ixiaqo, but he’d say his Commanders.
Most important person in their life before story starts, why: Uh…see above.
How do they spend the week just before the story starts: Researching, letting Reed run off to kill someone, and watching Aptsan fume about it and take it out sexually and trying not to beat himself up for it. Also took a trip to the newest school to sit on the swing-set and watch the kids at recess, got informed there WOULD be a meeting on Lecae, and said he WOULD not be attending.
