EDITED AGAIN FOR RANDOM TRIVIA: Laughing Buddha was the project name for India's first atomic bomb testing. Which I think is awesome, considering I get the image of a fat guy on a lotus flower laughing maniacally as a mushroom cloud goes off behind him with the SCREAMS OF MILLIONS BEHIND HIM, and the shockwave hits and all the petals of the lotus are vaporized, leaving a shadow of a man on the skeleton of a flower and he's STILL LAUGHING. How badass is that? Sure as hell beats Fat Man.

Once upon a time, there was a FANTASTIC movie called The Court Jester, in which they knight an idiot and make him tilt with a badass knight. To avoid him getting killed, they put a pellet of poison in one of the drinks for the ceremonial toast!

AT FIRST, the two cups are a chalice, from the palace, and a vessel with the image of a pestle on it. The chalice from the palace had the pellet with the poison, and the vessel with the pestle had the brew that was true.

BUT THEN THEY BROKE THE CHALICE FROM THE PALACE! It was replaced with a flagon emblazoned with the figure of a dragon! The pellet with the poison was NOW in the vessel with the pestle, while the flagon with the dragon had the brew that was true!

Get it?

So you're where I saw the phrase! I was just skimming around and caught sight of Laughing Buddha and just had to comment on it.

And don't thank me! Thank my Geography professor! It's strange - he's figured out what keeps everyone in the class interested, and since my dad's a nuclear physicist he's always nice and goes into WMDs and stuff. He's probably one of the best professors I've ever had, honestly!
