Okay, I just. I just have to geek out at you guys for a moment.
For Christmas, my brother bought me a bonsai. No, not one of those ridiculously expensive already-grown-and-pruned-to-perfection plants that I end up staring at for hours every time I go to the Home & Garden Show. Oh, no. He got me the equivalent of a bonsai sapling. I get to cultivate my own bonsai. I just...omg. If you aren't a plant nerd like myself, I'm spazzing/in awe because if I do this right, this plant will live longer than me. A lot longer than me. These plants can be handed down for four generations. I've always considered gardening an art, and bonsai are...gah, I don't know how to explain it. It's like I've had the paint and canvas and every single tool I could need for the Mona Lisa handed to me and now I have the chance to put it all together and make it glorious. It'll take years and years and lots of dedication and work, and in the end it will be dazzling.
It's currently about six feet away from me sleeping in a coffee cup, and I am such a dork because I keep looking over and grinning and having to stop myself from cooing at the damn thing. Expect obnoxious bonsai updates for the next ALWAYS. I'm going to go buy a bonsai-ing book when things are more orderly too, because I loev my plant long tiem.
Also notable to you guys: I got Court Jester on DVD (legally!), and I finally got up the courage to ask for something the rest of the family didn't know I'm in love with. Didn't go as far as Tin Man let alone Doctor Who or any anime because I am such a coward, but I asked for SPN season 2, and I got it! With minimal 'wtf' looks, no less! Very encouraging for when I pull my collection of manga out of the closet. Might even do it before I turn thirty, if these trends continue. ♥
